Here is one of my favorite meals to make. It is very easy and very popular. I have taken this to picnics and reunions and have often been asked for the recipe.
Also since one of the main ingredients is cabbage it is very healthy and low in calories.
You can make it a couple different ways. Some people like to add rice to the dish to absorb the water in it. I prefer it to be a little soupy so I leave the rice out and serve it on top of the rice.
If you want something simple to please a lot of people this is it. I think you will like it

Ingredients:
1 1/2 to 2 pounds 93% lean ground beef or turkey spray can of olive oil 1 large onion, chopped 1 tsp. minced garlic 1 small cabbage, chopped 2 cans (14.5 ounces each) diced tomatoes with green chilies 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce 1/2 cup water 1 teaspoon ground black pepper 1 teaspoon salt
Directions:
Spray the bottom of a large pot with the olive oil
Sauté onions until translucent
Add 93% lean ground beef and cook until brown
Add the garlic, cabbage, water, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt and pepper to the pot and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat to a simmer until the cabbage is tender. (25-30 minutes)
Best served on rice Yield about 8 servings
